Film Calendar (“the app”, Turkish: Film Takvimi) is a free, non-commercial app for planning films with friends. This page explains which data we process, why, and your rights.
1. Who is responsible
Zehra Yumlu, Istanbul, Türkiye · Email: [email protected]
2. What data we process
- Account: your email address and password (stored only in hashed form), and your confirmation that you are 16 or older and accept the terms.
- Profile: your name, username, short bio, optional profile photo and social media usernames, app language and privacy settings.
- Content you create: films and days in your calendar, “watched” marks, your film diary (rating, note, where and with whom you watched, ticket photo), film suggestions you send and receive, messages, comments, film club messages, shared and themed lists, pick of the week, profile cover and extra photos, poster game results, people you follow, people you block and reports you send.
- Letterboxd import: the file you choose is read only on your phone; we store just the matched films, their dates and your ratings.
- Technical data: IP address and device information kept briefly in our servers’ security and error logs.
3. Why we process it
- To provide the app: create your account and show your calendar, suggestions and messages (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b)).
- Safety and moderation: prevent abuse, review reports and enforce the rules (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Support: to answer you when you write to us.
4. Who can see what
- Your profile, your calendar (including your film diary and ticket photos), themed lists, pick of the week, badges and comments on your profile are visible to other signed-in users (except people you blocked). How many films you watched this month appears on the leaderboard.
- Shared lists and film clubs are visible only to their members.
- Messages and suggestions are visible only to the two people involved.
- Only you can see whom you blocked; they are not notified.
- Reports are seen only by us, for moderation.
5. Service providers
- Supabase (database, sign-in and file storage). Data is stored in the European Union, on servers in Frankfurt.
- TMDB (The Movie Database): film searches and film data are fetched from TMDB through our server; your account data is not sent to TMDB. Posters and film stills load on your device directly from TMDB, so TMDB can see your IP address. Where-to-watch data comes from JustWatch.
- Notifications (film day, festival and anniversary reminders) are scheduled locally on your phone; we use no push server for them.
- When you tap a trailer, ticket, IMDb or Letterboxd link, that site (e.g. YouTube, Google) opens under its own privacy rules.
- Apple distributes the app through the App Store.
We use no ad networks, analytics tools or tracking technologies. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.
6. How long we keep data
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account in the app (Profile → Account → Delete account), your profile, calendar, film diary, suggestions, messages, comments, lists, club messages and all photos (ticket photos included) are permanently deleted, and removed from any backups shortly after. Technical logs expire automatically after a short time.
7. Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port and object to the processing of your data. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to a data protection authority: in Türkiye the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK); in the EU, the authority of your country of residence.
8. Age
The app is for people aged 16 and over. If we learn an account belongs to someone younger, we delete it.
9. Changes
If we update this policy, we change the date on this page and announce important changes in the app.
